Want to turn heads when you walk down the street? Easy, just wear a bright color. Seriously, nothing seems to create more intrigue than a vibrant dress. It’s like a TV show when all the background actors are wearing monochrome colors and then the star walks through wearing a bright yellow top. The world works the same, look around, look in your wardrobe, mostly you’ll find muted colors and a sea of black. And while these colors may be chic, comfortable, and an easy go-to, they lack fun and personality. Summer is meant for fun, so as I see it, summer is meant for color.
Color can be scary to some. In fact, standing out at all is often scary. However, sometimes trying something out of our comfort zone is the push we need to realize just how confident we are. Liberate yourself from the black and white world, try my tips and become an expert in wearing color.
Try a fun print: A bold print is the best way to get a mix of vibrant color into your look without having to worry about matching! Large prints generally work best in a colorful look, as they won’t come off too busy.
Start small: You don’t have to jump right into wearing a fuchsia dress, start by adding color with your accessories, like a purple handbag or dangly turquoise earrings.
Pick colors that compliment your skin tone: For the longest time I wouldn’t be caught dead in red because I had horrible acne and anything red always made my skin look more inflamed. Hold clothing up to your face and see if the tones compliment each other. You could also try using a color wheel to find colors that will compliment your eyes or hair color.
Use Accessories To Neutralize: If your worried about your look going over board pair your outfit with neutral accessories, allowing only one pice to be the center of attention.
Pair basic with bold: For example, do a plain white tee with that funky rainbow skirt that’s been sitting in your close. The easiest way to ease yourself into color is to swap out one article of clothing at a time.
