I used to be a culotte hater. Who would think a wide legged cropped pant could be flattering on anyone, I surely didn’t. Even still I try on culotte jeans and I can’t figure out how some people look so good in them! However, I wasn’t ready to completely give up on culottes. One day, while scrolling through pages of ASOS clothing trying to fulfill my online shopping addiction, I stumble upon this orange jumpsuit. Burnt orange + culotte styled bottoms= a big no from me 99.9% of the time but, something about this jumpsuit, and how cute it looked on the model, made me curious enough to want to try it on. Reluctantly, I purchased.
I’m shocked at how much I ended up loving this piece. As soon as I tried it on it became my outfit of choice for a friends going away dinner that Garrett and I were attending that night. The square neckline is extremely flattering, while the ‘flowy-ness’ of the culotte pant didn’t make me look boxy like culottes normally do. My number 1 issue with culottes is that they (generally) make me look wider and shorter, if you’re having the same issue pair your culottes with open-toed heels and shop for culottes made of lightweight materials. Also, wear a form fitting top so that your figure doesn’t get lost.
You don’t always have to wear culottes with heels though! This post was originally going to be styled with a pair of flat espadrilles for cute and casual summer day look. You’ll probably still see that look on Instagram at some point but, I really liked the idea of doing a slightly more formal look after wearing this outfit to dinner!!
Hope you ladies enjoyed this look, I’d love to hear your thoughts on culottes in the comments!!
