First outfit post here!!! So excited to be getting this off the ground. Although I must say it is going to be a big adjustment for me to get used to taking pictures of myself every time I get dressed and stopping in front of a bunch of people to strike a pose- I’m like, ‘HIII, I feel awkward’. I’ve already missed a few post opportunities and have forgotten my camera at home more than I’d like to admit (pictures here taken with my iPhone). But hey, baby steps is the way to go. I’m hoping to slowly get more in the rhythm of this and plan posts out better for you guys.
I spent the Thanksgiving weekend in Pleasant Hill, California visiting with my boyfriends amazing family who I’m so thankful to for taking me in when I can’t make the trip across the country to be with my family. For Black Friday (yes, this post is a little delayed because my blog wasn’t quiet ready to be launched) we decided to whether the crowds and check out the Walnut Creek shopping center. They have stores that line multiple streets and alley ways leaving you with no shortage of things to look at. The sales at some places were amazing, but unfortunately, I didn’t buy anything. Being an outdoor style mall I knew I had to be ready for the cold, or at least cold to me since I’ve been stuck in summer in SoCal.
I went with this burnt orangey-pink sweater from Haute and Rebellious, it has quickly become one of my favorites, the tight knit pattern make it super warm and comfy. Since it’s oversized it’s perfect for covering that post-Thanksgiving guilt and the burger I scoffed down today. I’ve been seeing this color popping up in everything from clothes to accessories and interiors so I think it’s safe to say it’s super popular for the fall and winter months. In my opinion, the color is a great neutral without being what you’d normally expect a neutral to be.I decided to keep it simple and pair it up with some jeans. I usually get mine from Hollister Co. or Abercrombie because they always fit me the best, they don’t stretch out and are affordable- especially when you get them on sale. I went with a dark jean to add contrast to the sweater and slim out my legs. Next time I wear this sweater I want to try and pair it with a skirt. I’ve seen sweaters like this tucked into high wasted denim or leather skirts, as well as, layered over a bodycon skirt to show some leg, it’s such a cute look! This wasn’t going to work for today though since I need to be warm and wear comfy shoes. I’ve had these booties for 4 or 5 years now, they came slightly distressed but you can definitely see the wear I’ve added over the years. I love pointed toe booties with skinny jeans, they elongate the look of your legs without you having to wear a higher heel.
These booties have an adorable gold plate detail at the toe which helps make them look more expensive than they are (I bought them at PacSun), it’s always the little details that make the most difference. Since I bought these so long ago I can’t find them online but here are some similar, try these, these or these. To accentuate the gold I decided to just bring my wallet along with me today, the leather is a metallic gold, a color I can never resist. I bought this wallet while I was in Italy, its by Coccinelle, which was described to me as the Italian Michael Kors, although I’m pretty positive they have MK in Italy too! This and my leather purse were my splurge purchases while I was in Italy. I topped the whole look off with a bold dark brown lip, my final touch to embrace fall.
