Hi everybody, welcome back! I have a super fun #OOTD today, this outfit can be worn anytime & anywhere, whether your running errands or going out with the girls. It’s been super rainy and cold in San Diego so layers and jackets have still been a must! While I really love this outfit, I’m dying for warmer spring weather! Keep reading to see how I put this look together!
I was so excited to shoot photos at this spot, I found it online when searching some of the most instagrammed places in San Diego. The Salk Institute of Biological Studies campus is home to amazing symmetrical architecture and a washed concrete/ marble look. I was sad, at first, because the day we were supposed to shoot it rained but, turns out, I ended up loving how the water stained the surfaces. The water stains created cool contrasts and patterns in the pictures.
I thought again that this shoot failed when most of the campus was blocked off and under construction (you can see al the scaffolding in the background) with massive no-tresspassing signs and cameras. My imagination made the whole situation feel a little Stranger Things— biological studies campus + heavy security = human trials anyone?? Ok, I’m being crazy, but I can’t help allowing my imagination having a little fun!!
Despite some obstacles this photoshoot ended turning out really well. We were able to get pictures in this small quad area on the outskirts of the campus. I absolutely loved how to natural color of the ground, walls and scaffolding on the buildings in the background complimented the colors of my look. A tip from Capture Your Style, that I’m trying to work better on, is to match my outfits to the scene of the photoshoot.
I plan on being back here to take photos again soon, they have tons of interesting backdrops and buildings. I’m hoping that if I go back on a weekday the campus will be open so I can ease my imagination and check out more of what this place has to offer.
I recently went on a pretty big Zara haul and have been loving what I got. This jacket, jeans and shoes all came from that haul. The jacket has star and stud details that beautifully contrast to the faux black leather. I’ve been noticing a bit of ‘star’ trend recently, with the pattern popping on lots of articles of clothing. The top I’m wearing underneath is actually a dress. I like taking bodycon dresses and folding them up under pants to turn them into top. It’s super easy to tuck a tight dress into some high waisted pants. You now have double the ways to wear it! The brownish, gold sheen of the dress is the perfect match to the stars on the jacket, making them pop!
The bottom half of my outfit is these high waisted black skinny jeans with bold silver buttons. I chose a high waisted pant because the jacket is cropped and I wanted both pieces the meet at my waistline. These booties are my first pair of sock booties, and I love them! At first, I thought they would look awkward on me. However, I love how tight they are around the ankle, these booties look great with skinny jeans or a dresses. In addition, the low heel is amazing for getting through your day comfortably while portraying a nice lean leg.
