There are so many excuse to dress up around the holidays but the holy grail is New Years Eve. This whimsical night of love and new beginnings feels almost surreal as we dream of whats to come and reminisce on the joys of the previous year. Ready to celebrate we surround ourselves with those closest to us and dress to the nine’s, wanting to feel our best as we countdown into the New Year. And for a brief moment, when the clock hits midnight everything feels at peace, we hit the rest button and all is new.
This year for New Years I’ll be seeing one of my favorite DJ’s, Kaskade, in San Fransisco. I can promise you I won’t be wearing this outfit. My glam may have to take a bit of a backseat for this night of non stop dancing. I’m honestly still very torn on what to wear; I don’t want to wear heels, but I want to dress up, I don’t want to be cold, but I still want to look good. The dilemmas!
This velvet romper is much more suited for a New Years dinner, a holiday house party or pretty much any venue where you can sip on champagne and dance the night away. While sexy, a romper is still practical and comfortable. And jewel tone blue velvet is lux enough for New Years. The romper needed more though. If there is ever a time to be ‘extra’ it’s New Years. To break up the low neckline I added a necklace that my mom made me, the large copper swarovski crystal reflects light in the most gorgeous way.
The bag is another key accessory. First of all, I love that it’s the same shape as the necklace- I didn’t do that on purpose, I swear! I did, however, add touches of gold wherever possible to compliment the chain fringe. Nothing says classy like some touches of gold!
Keeping with the comfortability factor I wore low gold heels. They’re just high enough to add definition to the legs and keep the outfit formal. However, you can still walk and dance in them for hours. We all know we regret wearing those 4 inch heels after about 5 minutes, and you don’t want to be that girl carrying her shoes- been there, done that. Although I took these photos in San Diego I’m still prepping for a cold New Years. So, I grabbed my white fur coat because seriously, I can’t think of a more fitting time to wear it (lol)!!
