Two years ago I remember being at the mall with one of my girlfriends and stopping into Cotton On. Hanging on the wall I saw these adorable short-alls, that I for some reason had to have! I turned to my roommate and said, “I want to bring overalls back”. She probably laughed at me since two years ago no one was really wearing overalls, at least not to my knowledge, but I didn’t care. And while I can’t say I single handedly “brought back overalls”, I did happily purchase these short-alls that day and have been wearing them proudly ever since!
Today, overalls are back in a big way. I believe the ‘denim everything trend‘ was the perfect fuel to bring back overalls. Denim on denim looks have become increasingly trendy, and overalls are the simplest way to get the whole look with one piece. As overalls ramped up in popularity new designs featuring an array of fabrics followed. Short-alls, bib dresses, and overalls are now made in every fabric you can imagine and can be found both in stores, and on runways. Fashion blogger, Danielle Bernstein, even created an entire overalls line called Second Skin Overalls.
