This past week Garrett and I headed up to the bay area for his brothers wedding. The whole week was magical and filled with love and happiness. I feel so lucky to have been a part of it. Being that Garrett was the best man I was able to attend the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. I felt so much pressure to find the perfect dress for both this event, and the actual wedding. Especially considering it was the first time I was going to be meeting many of his family members. They’re a very laid back, warmhearted family and I probably over dressed the whole time but, that’s pretty much me all the time!!!
When I stumbled upon this amazing dress from ASOS it instantly caught my eye, I couldn’t place my finger on it but, I was absolutely obsessed. So obsessed in fact that I stalked it for weeks as it went in and out of stock.
Let me tell you about the nightmare that was me trying to buy this dress, and my dress for the wedding. I first found my rehearsal dinner dress. It was perfect! Plus, it was on sale and, in my size. I held it in my cart for a few days while I searched for a dress to wear to the wedding. When I finally found a dress for the wedding, I noticed that my rehearsal dinner dress had sold out… I was distraught. I started stalking this dress checking multiple times a day to see if it was going to be restocked. All the sudden it was back, and ASOS was having a promo where they offered $100 off $350. I quickly purchased both dresses, a pair of shoes and two clutches for $250. THE EXCITEMENT WAS REAL. A few days pass and I don’t see any new shipment tracking information. So, I contacted ASOS and they reaffirmed that it was on the way. A few days later the package is marked delivered, however, it is no where to be found. I scrambled to contact anyone who I thought could help me. I left notes for the mailman and my neighbors and spent hours on the phone with USPS. ASOS later deemed the package lost and refunded me. Now, about a week before the wedding and I have nothing to wear.
I headed straight to the mall in search of new dresses. I found an amazing dress for the wedding at Bloomingdales but, I still couldn’t get this rehearsal dinner dress out of my head. I was extremely nervous to order from ASOS again considering the problems I had just had with them. But, with less than a week until the wedding I decided to go for it. I ordered this dress, the shoes, and the clutch and opted for the free 2 day shipping ASOS offers. You have no idea how happy I was to see this package on my door step just in time!
For me a summer wedding is all about femininity and romanticism. I feel that this dress really embodies that with its light layers and embroidered flowers that catch light so beautifully. In the shop slider below I linked 5 different rehearsal dinner outfit ideas, each dress embodying the same characteristics. The dresses I linked are all on the longer side because that was something that I was looking for when I found my dress. Personally, when I’m around family I don’t like wearing anything too revealing.
The dinner was held at the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa. We had a private room with a beautifully decorated table. The dinner included hors d’oeuvre’s, my favorite were the fried cheese balls, which doesn’t sound very fancy but they somehow made them gourmet. I then got the crab cakes as an appetizer, a perfectly prepared steak for my main dish, and a caramel custard soufflé for dessert. Every thing was spectacular.
P.S I also found my dress at Forever 21 ($148), it’s not on sale like it is at ASOS ($105), but they may have more sizes in stock!
