My recent vacation inspired me to do some vacation wear/ swimwear posts and use the photos from my vacation as my blog pictures. I liked the idea of doing this because I think it shows a more ‘real’ side of me. Of course I’m still posing for these pictures but, they’re less staged and, let you see more of the experiences I had rather than just what I wore. I’m also pretty happy that I won’t have to do a swimwear photoshoot on any of the very public, very busy, San Diego beaches!
I thought shopping for swimwear this year was going to be a struggle because I used to get all my swimwear from Victoria’s Secret. I was sheltered by the idea that this was the only place to buy cute swimwear and never looked anywhere else. I don’t know what I was thinking. This year Victoria’s Secret stopped selling swimwear altogether and I was forced to look elsewhere.
I LOVVVVEEEEEDDDDD what I found. And, although Victoria’s Secret always has cute stuff, I think my top 3 swimwear shops give them a run for their money.
Before we get into that though, can we please talk about this gorgeous beach! This was Maho Beach in St. Maarten, we took an excursion from our cruise ship to check out this wondrous place. Planes come in and land just across the street from the beach (literally!!), flying a mere 100ft over your head. The jets are so powerful that you don’t want to set your beach chair down anywhere between the water and the runway because you and the chair will probably end up in the ocean. I took a picture when one of the larger planes was coming in and literally had to catch myself from falling to the ground as it passed.
On one side of the beach was a large restaurant, bar and shopping area with a pool in the center, it seemed like the party spot at night! On the other side of the beach, where we sat, was another much smaller tiki bar that we frequented for some frozen drinks (yum!). Garrett and I found the perfect hut to sit under, right between the beach and the bar and ended up spending most the day here hiding from the sun. Yes, I made it through this vacation without a sunburn!
#1 Pacsun: Great fit, great quality, and at a great price. Really it doesn’t get much better than that, I purchased 4 swimsuits from them this season, including the one I’m wearing in this post and I love them all. They have a massive selection and often big sales so I’m confident everyone can find what they like.
#2 ASOS: I just started shopping at ASOS this year and (again) realize how much I was missing out. They have so many products that it can be a lot to sift through but it’s all worth it when you find that rare gem. They also offer free returns so if something doesn’t fit just send it back!
#3 American Eagle/ Aerie: Aerie is running an awesome body positive campaign this year, they don’t retouch any of their product photos! How cool is that? Hearing about this campaign drew me to their website where I found tons of adorable styles at really great prices! Here are some of my favorites….
