Let me start off by saying: No, Garrett and I didn’t get married in Barbados. Apparently a risk you take when you wear all white is people thinking you just said “I do”. I’m sure the “couple-y” pictures we took didn’t help much either!
Barbados was definitely my favorite island on this trip, and I think my Mom and Garrett would both agree. We ended up doing a snorkeling excursion after one of our other excursions had been canceled, it must be true that everything happens for a reason. We started off the day on a boat ride with our local guides, they brought us out into the ocean where sea turtles swam all around us. The guides had food that attracted them to the surface where we could get a closer look and even pet them if we were lucky. It was truly amazing. Garrett has tons of GoPro footage that hopefully I’ll be able to turn into a vlog for you guys, pending me learning how to use technology!
We then hopped back onto the boat and headed to our next snorkeling location, this time to see a massive shipwreck. To my surprise not only did we see a shipwreck but tons of species of fish. The fish weren’t scared by people at all, however, I was kind of scared of them. One time a fish tried to eat my belly button ring, it scarred me for life. I toughened up and spent some time in the water taking it all in but, was one of the first to get out. Back on the boat they gave us Caribbean rum drinks, apparently the secret ingredient is nutmeg!
We had expected the excursion to end there but, to our surprise, our guides took us to one of the most beautiful beaches we had ever seen. We were the only people there so I felt like it was our own private beach. Behind the beach sat an old construction of a Four Seasons Hotel, apparently they ran out of money while constructing it but, even in its decay, it was so beautiful, I could imagine where the pools would be and all the pretty white curtains would be flowing. I told Garrett that we should revive a piece of it and live there! My mom tried to climb inside but quickly got in trouble by the authorities! We spent the rest of our beach day sipping on our drinks, taking pictures and soaking in the sun, it was nothing short of perfect.
Not only was this my favorite island but, this was my favorite outfit. When I saw this girly polka dot bikini at ASOS I had to have it. I stalked it for weeks because it kept going out of stock! I also got this chiffon beach cover up from ASOS, I knew we were going to be in the water most the day so I didn’t bother with ‘real clothes’. I wrapped my hair up in my scarf from Zara, which you’ll normally see attached to my beach bag, and accessorized with my cat eye sunglasses from Sunglass Spot. I always get the funkiest sunglasses from Sunglass Spot, they’re all only $5-10 so I don’t mind if I only wear them a few times!
